Charles - it certainly seems that Abbott is going to get taken apart if he continues to run on his "magic pudding" climate change solution. Regarding mutated relics, the answer is of course, "yes". :)

Matthew, apart from an ETS, the obvious alternative that has been thrown out there in the media is a carbon tax. There are other solutions to reduce carbon out there, but nothing as comprehensive as these two, at least if we are looking at market-based approaches to the problem (seemingly a pre-requisite in today's Australia).

Credible Climate Policy, now I'd like to see that.

It may pay dividends that Tony Abbott visit Europe as soon as possible and gather economic insights and strategies to reducing emissions (he should also talk to the CSIRO). Otherwise following in reference to the primary mechanism of evolution regarding struggle and adversity, Australian business and industry will not compete and survive in global trade networks if they continue their "too expensive" retort to any climate policy initiative. Someone will at some point determine that a green alternative is cost effective and sustainable, leaving our industry and infrastructure redundant.

Guy I wonder whether your assessment of a mutated relic of an industrial revolution wreck would be a blanket assessment of our major parties in general. I look forward to your insight
