On the other hand, the way things are going for them, it will be very surprising if they survive the next election. Lord only knows what the Tories will do. Matthew, I think Australian funding is setting up a refugee processing facility in Indonesia as we speak. Having said that, there is no guarantee that boats will be picked up close to refugee centres setup overseas. If a boat is found in or near Australian waters, it would likely be impractical to route them in all cases back to Indonesia or somewhere on the subcontinent.
