Hey, good to hear from you GB. I have been meaning to get along to a Fabian event or two down here - hopefully in the next month or so I will actually make it.

I too will be very pleased when we start seeing some of these big infrastructure projects getting off the paper stage and into the real world. It will be great for the country and great for the Labor Party and its oft forgotten (by the hierarchy) supporters.

Hey Guy, I just thought I'd drop by and say hi.

How's Melbourne treating you? I just renewed my Fabian membership, and looking at what the Fabians do in Melbourne always makes me jealous.

On the budget stuff, we would have had a large deficit had government spending policy not changed at all - in fact, it very likely would be worse without the stimulus. You can depend on the Libs to play on economic ignorance.

But anyone on our side of politics should be happy that, for the first time, the federal government is involved in urban public transport. This is very significant: Labor pioneered federal funding for highways, and now it's doing the same for urban rail.

Conjure up in your mind the sound stuka bombers always make in those old ww2 movies, as they dive towards earth...
