It will be interesting to observe how the politics of the government's blocked ETS feed into this year's election, particularly with Abbott still in denial and Turnbull still at large. I think we already know that the Greens wouldn’t be willing to soften their stance, and I think the government is very unlikely to leap to the top end of their suggested emission cut range without any substantive global agreement also on the table.
