Chris, that's a deeply cynical take on it. I don't agree that its all the US and NATO doing the redrawing in this case; the governing party was elected on a platform of independence, and it seems quite readily apparent that the majority of the country want independence.

Withdrawing recognition from Israel would be a profoundly reactionary step that would do Australia's standing no favours internationally. There would quite simply be nothing to be gained from doing it, and it would certainly not progress the cause of a solution to the Middle East conflict. It would render our voice on issues in the Middle East worthless.

I think that this is a dissapointing development; and is simply validating and endorsing a demographic war which started during the NAZI occupation of Yugoslavia during the second world war. Its purely aimed at further eating away at the orthodox community.

I don't think that the US and NATO should have the right to redraw national boundaries and impose their will on sovereign countries. I don't want a return to the era where colonial powers get to partition every little country they want to loot.

If the international community was genuinely concerned with resolving long standing issues of international justice, and preventing ethnic cleansing then perhaps it would intervene and restore Palestine to the Palestinians, allow both the southern Philippines and southern Thailand to secede, and also intervene in our own country and ensure that our indiginous people have their land restored to them.

It is an absolute joke that Rudd has recognised this phoney nation. Rudd should instead recognise Palestine, and withdraw recognition of Israel.

It is a picture of the map of Kosovo in a sort of mustard colour, on a blue background. A row of six stars along the top signify the different ethnic communities living within Kosovo's borders.
